Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have a question not on this list, please don't hesitate to send a message via the contact page form or call at 336-455-3715. I am happy to answer any questions you might have before booking.

What is a bridal preview and when should I book one?

A bridal preview is a way for you to try on your ideal bridal makeup look to get an idea of how it will look for your wedding. At the appointment I will assess your skin, address any skin concerns you might have, then get to work creating the look you would like to achieve. If you have inspiration photos I highly recommend bringing them to the appointment since it gives me a good idea of what you want. I also recommend wearing the same color top as your wedding dress which in many cases will be white because you will get a more accurate depiction of the makeup against the color you will be wearing!

A $150 non-refundable/non-transferable retainer will be due with with a signed contract to lock in your wedding date. If I don't have both, your date is not secured. This retainer goes towards your final balance. Previews are usually done at my location but I will travel to you on your wedding day.

Bridal previews are mandatory and a separate cost and are usually booked about 1-3 months before your wedding day. Previews are a MUST since I don't want any miscommunication on the wedding day. Previews will ensure that you love your makeup so you can be stress free on your day!

How do you keep things clean between clients?

It is so important to me to keep things clean and hygienic while I do makeup. I choose to have a separate set of brushes for each client I work on. For example, if I have 4 clients I will bring 4 sets of clean and sanitized brushes so no brush has to be cleaned and a reused between clients. All makeup used is also sprayed down with sanitizer in between clients. I use disposable mascara wands, lip applicators, sponges, etc. as it should be with any makeup artist! At the end of the day, I take my brushes home and deep clean/sanitize them for next time. I wash and sanitize my hands in between clients and I will wear a mask if you would like me to!

Do you travel?

I am an on-location makeup artist so I do travel. I will travel for free to any location 30 miles or less round trip from my home in Stokesdale. Anything above 30 miles round trip is $0.70 cents per mile. I am willing to travel up to 1 hour outside of my location. A holiday charge of $25 will be applied for weddings on major holidays or holiday weekends.

How far in advance should I book makeup for my wedding?

As soon as you would like! Ideally bridal makeup is usually booked 6-9 months out but you can book way before. The earlier you book, the easier it will be to secure your date. If you wait on it I could be booked up on the day you need.

Can I book a bridal preview first before booking my wedding date?

The short answer is yes, however your wedding date is not locked in or guaranteed solely based on a booked preview. Previews are only available on Sundays and select weekdays so priority is always given to booked brides. The reason for this is because I can't hold a date in anticipation of you booking after your preview. Dates fill up quickly and often times another bride may already be interested in booking that date. If you have booked a preview but not your wedding date, another bride can take the date as I do work on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do you do hair in addition to makeup?

I only do wedding makeup and special event makeup. Hair isn't my strong suit but makeup is, so I choose to solely focus on bridal makeup. This means you will need to find a hair stylist for your wedding day. I can refer a hair stylist if you need one.

Do you offer airbrush makeup?

I do not offer airbrush makeup. Airbrushing is really just a method of application like you would use a brush or sponge. Airbrushing isn't always ideal especially if you have dry or mature skin. When traditional bridal makeup is done in the correct way, you will not be able to tell a difference between airbrush and traditional application.

What kind of makeup do you use?

When it comes to my clients, I choose to use more higher end brands. Some drugstore brands are great and I carry those minimally but the main brands you will find me using are brands like: Nars, Mac, Face Atelier, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Dior, Too Faced, Charlotte Tilbury, Urban Decay, Lorac, Benefit, Tarte, Nudestix, Inglot, Huda Beauty, Givenchy, Kosas, Rare Beauty, Hourglass & more! I am always refreshing my kit and adding new products to stay up to date with the trends.

What if I don't like strip lashes? Do you offer alternatives?

Absolutely! If strip lashes aren't your thing, I do carry individual lashes and lash clusters and they are available upon request. Strip lashes are quicker to apply so keep in mind doing individual lashes or clusters will take slightly more time to apply since each will need to be applied one by one.

What type of makeup do you specialize in?

My focus is bridal makeup with a soft glam/glam approach. I love a classic bridal look with a little bit of glitz and glam! This means that I will bring out your best features so you look polished and beautiful but still look like yourself, just a more amplified version with lashes, smokey eyes and some sparkle if you want it. My motto for a bride: Why look ordinary when you can look extraordinary? This is the one day where you can really glam it up! Bridal makeup should not be your everyday makeup; after all, your wedding day is not a normal day! It's a special, "fancier" one!

Why is bridal makeup so much more expensive?

Bridal makeup costs a little more because you are getting your makeup done twice. You are paying for your preview run & your wedding day makeup. Brides are the most important member of the wedding party! I spend extra time making sure the bride looks absolutely picture perfect with high quality products. I use a layering technique (on brides ONLY) where I use cream and liquid products first, then use corresponding powers to set them in place for a LONG LASTING look. This layering technique is used on the bride only since it does take longer to do.

There is also admin work that goes into it - contracts, paperwork, emails, text communication, setting up on your big day, perfecting your timeline, cleaning up, etc. All of this takes time to complete and has more moving parts than a regular booking.

How do you ensure that my makeup will last?

With bridal makeup, especially on such an important day, I do everything I can to make sure your makeup holds up. I will assess your skin and make sure the proper skin prep is done prior to applying makeup. After makeup is applied it is set with a powder and setting spray. Things may happen beyond my control which is why I provide clients with a touch up kit including their lip color before I leave. Some other things I include in a touch up kit: mints, blotting paper (if you're oily), q-tips, your beauty sponge and powder puff I used on you, and more!

How long will it take to get my makeup done?

When booking a makeup artist, it is important to be on the same page time-wise so we do not run into timing issues on your wedding day. I typically take 1 hour and 15 minutes on the bride, and about 50 minutes on each member of the bridal party.

** Please check with your venue on the earliest time makeup can start b/c this will depend on whether or not a second artist is needed to get everyone done on time

How do I book and pay for services?

If you are wanting to book with me, just send me an email through my contact form and I will be in touch with you within 24 hours. I will email you an invoice for the retainer and the bridal contract after speaking with you. Please note a $150 non-refundable/non-transferable retainer will be due at the time of booking. Once the invoice is paid and contract is signed your date is locked in. I take credit card payments through square. I choose to take payment from just one person (usually the bride) because it's easier instead of collecting payments from multiple people on the day of when things are usually chaotic and crazy. Brides will just have their wedding party reimburse them if each member is paying for their own. The remaining balance is usually paid the week before the wedding. I can work out payment plans if needed.
